About this tool

Each object in a JSON array becomes one CSV row. Columns come from every key found across all objects, so missing fields leave empty cells. Nested objects are flattened with dot notation (address.city), and arrays are kept as JSON text in a single cell. Values containing commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted following RFC 4180, so Excel and Google Sheets open the file correctly.

For CSV to JSON, the first row is used as the keys. With “Detect numbers” on, numeric cells become numbers, except values with leading zeros, such as ZIP codes, which stay as text.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open the CSV in Excel?

Download the .csv file and open it. In regions that use commas as decimal separators, choose the semicolon delimiter so Excel splits the columns correctly.

What happens to nested JSON?

Nested objects become dotted column names (user.name). Arrays inside a record are kept as JSON text in one cell.

Will ZIP codes lose their leading zero?

No. Numbers with leading zeros are kept as text when converting CSV to JSON.
