About this tool
Screens mix red, green and blue light, so HEX and RGB describe the same thing: #7c3aed = rgb(124, 58, 237). HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) is easier to adjust by hand. Keep the hue and change the lightness to get a consistent palette. CMYK values are a simple conversion for print; real print colors depend on the printer’s color profile.
The contrast checker uses the WCAG 2.2 relative luminance formula. Normal text needs at least 4.5:1 for AA (7:1 for AAA), and large text needs 3:1.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert HEX to RGB?
Split the six hex digits into pairs and convert each from base 16: #7c3aed → 7c=124, 3a=58, ed=237.
What does an 8-digit HEX mean?
The last two digits are alpha (opacity): #7c3aed80 is about 50% opaque. The converter supports 3, 4, 6 and 8-digit HEX.
Is the CMYK value exact for printing?
No. It is a device-independent approximation. Ask your printer for color-managed values when accuracy matters.
